Plot size and home layout: understanding the difference

Project listings often highlight a plot size in square yards. That figure describes the land area and should not be read as the usable area of an individual residence. Understanding the distinction helps you ask better questions when comparing homes.

Begin with the right measurement

Ask for the floor plan and the measurements relevant to the particular floor you are considering. Confirm what each area figure includes. Stairs, shared access, balconies and other spaces can make a simple headline comparison misleading.

Read the rooms, not just the total

A practical layout considers the shape of each room, door openings, storage and movement. Think about where a sofa, bed and dining table would sit. A well-positioned doorway can matter as much to your daily routine as an additional strip of floor space.

Think about privacy

Trace the route from the main entrance to the living room, bedrooms and kitchen. Notice whether guests would need to pass private rooms and whether a work area can be kept separate from everyday activity.

Match the plan to the site

Bring the current floor plan to your visit and ask the project team to explain it room by room. Clarify any differences between a representative image and the specific floor offered. Pankaj Homes can help you obtain project-specific information before you shortlist a residence.
